Cansu Öcel is a PhD candidate and independent sculptor based in Istanbul, currently pursuing her studies at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. She completed both her undergraduate degree and her master's in Philosophy of Art at MSGSU, with her thesis, "The Problem of Representation in Philosophy and Art: From the Living Body to the Body without Organs," reflecting her deep engagement with contemporary philosophical discourse. Her academic research focuses on the intersections of philosophy of art, contemporary philosophy, and phenomenology, exploring how these fields inform and challenge traditional artistic practices. Alongside her academic pursuits, she has been actively creating sculptural works since 2010, a journey that began during her time at Şişli Terakki High School. As an independent sculptor, Cansu's work reflects her interest in the philosophical aspects of art, particularly in exploring themes related to the human condition. She aims to combine theoretical insights with a thoughtful approach to materiality.
